We warmly invite you to our first session of Painting With Chloe with Wadawurrung based artist, Chloe Caday at Tahanan Studio. In harmony with the seasons, we invite you to draw inspiration from nature and our surroundings to capture the beauty and abundance of our local flora, carefully arranged with everyday Filipino artisanal objects. Whether you're a seasoned abstract artist or wanting to dip your toes into still life painting, our painting sessions are suitable for all levels of experience.
On the day:
The afternoon will begin with light refreshments at arrival, and a brief introduction of the session and the chosen arrangement. From here, Chloe will guide you throughout the whole painting process; from learning how to mix oil colours and mediums to different painting techniques to capture the subject's form and light. This class is designed to focus on the process – encouraging conversations surrounding the chosen subject and what it means to you, so you bring home a beautiful work with mindful intention behind it. The class will conclude with a collaborative conversation about our works, over a warm cup of tablea/hot tskokolate.
What you'll learn:
- Basic colour theory: the relationship between colours and the art of colour mixing to create contrast, harmony, emotions and symbolism.
- Different oil mediums and how to incorporate it into your work.
- Brush techniques to create different strokes and textures.
- How to incorporate safe and low toxic oil painting techniques in your studio/home.
