Join us for a three-hour hands-on workshop where you'll learn the foundations and practical fermentation techniques to incorporate into your daily life.

What to Expect:

  • You’ll get to taste different fermented foods.

  • Move through three interactive stations where you’ll learn different ways to prep and flavour your ferments (sauerkraut & kimchi, mixed vegetables in brine, and soda)

  • Take home your jars of vegetables and a bottle of soda to ferment at home

  • Take home a recipe zine to continue your fermentation journey

Meet Your Facilitator: Maysie Lecciones

Maysie Lecciones is a multidisciplinary creative, graphic designer, and passionate gardener whose love for fermentation began in 2020 during COVID. As food prices rose and waste became more apparent, she turned to growing and preserving her own food. Inspired by her deepening interest in sustainable gardening and fermentation, what started as a way to save her garden’s harvest became a way of life—one that reduces waste, nourishes the body, and reconnects us with nature. 

With years of hands-on experience pickling and fermenting just about everything, Maysie is excited to share her knowledge, insights, and appreciation for the magic of microbes. To her, fermentation isn’t just about food—it’s about working with nature, giving back to the earth, and letting the earth take care of us in return.

 


Workshop Location:

This workshop will take place at Tahanan Studio in Maidstone, a warm and welcoming home studio space designed for creativity and connection.
